Microgreens Beetroot ‘Bull’s Blood’ Seeds

‘Bull’s Blood’ is a beetroot variety known for its rich red stems and dark leaves. When grown as microgreens, it adds a sweet, earthy taste and bold colour to salads, wraps, and garnishes. These microgreens grow well indoors and are picked young when the leaves are still soft and flavourful.

Along with their colour, beet microgreens are full of nutrients. They’re a good source of iron, magnesium, antioxidants, and vitamins A, C, and K. A small handful can boost both the look and nutrition of any meal.

How to Grow Bull’s Blood Microgreens

  • Sow rate: 28–40 grams per 10 x 20″ growing tray
  • Pre-soak: Soak seeds in cool water for 6–8 hours before sowing
  • Grow medium: Soil only (not suited to hydroponic mats or pads)
  • Tray setup: Add 2–3 cm of seed-raising soil to tray, flatten and moisten
  • Sowing: Spread soaked seeds evenly and cover lightly with soil
  • Germination: Cover with a lid or tray and place in a dark spot for 6–8 days
  • Watering: Mist once or twice a day to keep soil moist, not soggy
  • Light: Once seedlings push up the lid, uncover and move to a sunny area or under grow lights
  • Harvest: 10–14 days after sowing. Cut 1–2 cm above the soil once true leaves appear
  • Difficulty: Medium – needs care with moisture and airflow

Tip: Don’t overwater. Allow good airflow to prevent mould. Harvest just before serving for best flavour and texture.
