Cucumber

Botanical name: Cucumis sativus
Plant cucumber seeds directly in the ground once all frost threats have passed; in warmer climates, plant them during the dry season. Cucumbers thrive in temperate, subtropical, and tropical regions. Sow seeds 1–2 cm deep, spacing them 50 cm apart if using a trellis, or 1 meter apart for raised beds. Utilizing a trellis minimizes fungal issues; additionally, it’s beneficial to regularly apply seaweed spray. Enhance the soil with compost and well-decomposed manure, as cucumbers prefer less acidic conditions and require consistent watering. Remove the terminal bud to promote branching, as these side shoots yield more fruit. Pick fruit daily, leaving a 2 cm stem to reduce moisture loss and enhance fruit preservation.
