SNOWPEA ‘Oregon Sugar Pod’
Botanical Name: Pisum sativum
- Bush type snow pea that grows up to 70cm height.
- Also known as Oregon dwarf seed variety. Pods 10cm x 2cm.
- Powdery Mildew resistant.
- Avoid sowing before periods of high humidity to reduce fungal problems.
- Full of flavour and great in stirfries.
- Heavy cropping
- Produces tender, crisp pods that are approx. 11 cm length.
- This variety can be grown as a microgreen or garden pea.

- Sow When:
- Temperate: February – mid-October; frost damages the flowers
- Subtropical: April – mid-October; frost damages the flowers
- Tropical: March – July (unlikely to produce well)

- Germination: 7 – 14 days
- Depth: 1.5 – 2.5 cm deep, soak seed overnight before sowing
- Position: Full sun, sheltered from wind
- Sow Where: Direct into the garden bed
- Soil Type: Fertile, well-drained, pH 6 – 7; lime if necessary several weeks before sowing; prepare soil with compost; lightly mulch
- Rows: 45 – 60 cm apart
- Spacing: 7.5 cm between plants
