Seed Variety Highlights

  • Alfalfa (Medicago sativa): Known for its mild, nutty flavour and delicate texture, alfalfa sprouts are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as calcium and iron.
  • Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica): These sprouts have a slightly peppery taste and are renowned for their high sulforaphane content, a compound with antioxidant properties.
  • Radish (Raphanus sativus): Adding a spicy kick, radish sprouts are a good source of vitamins B6 and C, folate, and potassium.
  • Mung Bean (Vigna radiata): With a crisp texture and mildly sweet flavour, mung bean sprouts provide protein, fibre, and essential amino acids.
  • Lentil (Lens culinaris): Lentil sprouts offer an earthy taste and are packed with protein, iron, and folate, supporting energy and overall health.
  • Adzuki Bean (Vigna angularis): These sprouts have a slightly sweet flavour and are rich in protein, fibre, and antioxidants, promoting digestive health.

How to Sprout Salad Mix Seeds

You can sprout Salad Mix using a sprouting jar, tray, hemp bag, or even a colander. Here’s how to do it in a sprouting jar.

  • Pre-soak seeds:

Use 1.5 tablespoons (approx. 20 grams) of seeds and soak in cool water for 6–8 hours.

  • Method:

After soaking, rinse thoroughly. Add to your sprouting jar, fill 3/4 with fresh water, then drain through a mesh lid. Place the jar upside down at an angle to drain. Store in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.

  • Rinse and Repeat:

Every 8–12 hours, rinse the seeds with cool water, drain, and return the jar to the angled position. Continue this process for several days.

  • Harvest:

In just 3–5 days, your sprouts will be ready. Rinse thoroughly and drain well. Eat fresh or refrigerate for up to one week.
