MICROGREEN ‘Purple Radish’ Seeds
Botanical name: Raphanus sativus
Purple radish microgreens are quick to grow and full of colour and flavour. With deep purple stems and bright green leaves, they add a bold touch to salads, wraps, and sandwiches. Their spicy flavour and fast growth make them a favourite for both home gardeners and commercial growers.
These microgreens are also a source of natural antioxidants, including sulforaphane and other beneficial compounds found in radishes and other cruciferous vegetables.

Growing Tips
Purple radish is a great microgreen for beginners. It grows quickly and reliably in most indoor or outdoor setups. For best results, use a clean tray and keep your growing area well ventilated. At Seedmart, we recommend hemp grow mats for hydroponic setups and bottom watering to keep stems clean and strong. You can also add a small amount of Microgreen Plant Nutrient to support healthy growth.
How to Grow Purple Radish Microgreens
- Pre-soak: Soak seeds in cool water for 4–6 hours before planting.
- Seeding rate: Use 5 grams for a small tray or punnet-sized container.
- Growing medium: Grow hydroponically on hemp mat or use 2–3 cm of organic soil or coir peat. Flatten and moisten before sowing.
- Germination (blackout stage): Sprinkle seeds evenly. Lightly mist with water. Cover with another tray and place in a dark, well-ventilated spot. Water 1–2 times daily until shoots reach 3 cm.
- Light exposure: Once the shoots are tall enough, remove the cover and move the tray to indirect light. Continue watering as needed.
- Harvest: Ready to cut in 6–12 days. Harvest 1–2 cm above the growing medium using clean scissors.
