How to Grow Broccoli Sprouts
- Prepare your equipment. Wash your hands and clean the sprouting jar, lid or tray thoroughly before starting.
- Measure and soak. Add a small amount of seed, leaving plenty of room for the sprouts to expand. Follow the sprouting guide for soaking instructions.
- Rinse and drain. Use fresh drinking-quality water and drain thoroughly. Position the equipment so excess water can escape and air can circulate.
- Continue regular care. Follow the guide’s rinsing schedule and avoid leaving the seeds or sprouts standing in water.
- Harvest and store. Follow the guide for harvesting, then drain well and refrigerate promptly in a clean container.

The flavour is light, bright and a tiny bit peppery. They aren’t bland in taste like mung beans or alfalfa sprouts. These seeds were very quick to germinate and very tasty to eat. I was however quite disappointed in the amount of plastic used to package the seeds. I have purchased seeds from many other businesses and they have all used much smaller packages. These can no longer be recycled with red cycle so they will unfortunately just end up in landfill. I also keep my seeds in the fridge and they take up quite a bit more room. Please consider using much smaller plastic bags as these seem like overkill for the amount of seeds in them ? Thanks.

I have been told that I need sulforaphane and brocolli sprouts are the best food source. I have been taking brocolli sprout powder and it is great but expensive, so I decided to grow fresh sprouts. It was extremely easy to sprout these. They had a good germination rate. They didn’t agree with me unfortunately… they came right back up after I ate them. They tasted like wasabi and were too strong for my stomach. If you like the taste of brocolli sprouts, I recomend these seeds. If you have a sensitive stomach just be a bit careful.

I had the idea that I’d get a pretty big volume of sprouts from 2 T of seeds, but while they germinated well, they never grew to more than about a half inch in size. Minimal green leaves. Tastes okay and I ate them anyway, but it didn’t look like the pictures and I’m uncertain how well it’s going to work without having lots of little green leaves.

I strain them in my tea strainer, then fix a round piece of material with a rubber band, invert and let it drain on a tea towel while I put water in the next jar.
