Flavour and How to Use
Buckwheat microgreens have a mild, slightly citrus taste. They’re best eaten raw to keep their soft texture. Add them fresh to salads, rice paper rolls, toast toppings, or use as a garnish on cold dishes.
How to Grow Buckwheat Microgreens
- Pre-soak seeds: Yes. Soak for 12–24 hours in cool water to start germination.
- Growing medium: Use soil or coir mix. Not suitable for hydroponics.
- Sowing rate: Around 300 g per 10 x 20″ tray. Spread over 2–3 cm of moist soil.
- Weighting: Cover with another tray or light weight for the first few days.
- Blackout period: 3–4 days in a dark, well-ventilated spot.
- Lighting: After blackout, move to indirect sunlight or a grow light. Water daily.
- Harvest: When leaves open and stems are soft—usually 7–14 days after sowing.
