TOMATO ‘Sweetie’ Seeds

Botanical Name: Solanum lycopersicum

  • Packet size: 100 seed count

‘Sweetie’ is a popular cherry tomato variety known for its exceptionally sweet flavour and heavy yields. These indeterminate plants produce clusters of small, bright red fruit that are perfect for snacking, salads, and lunchboxes. A reliable and vigorous grower, it performs well across a range of climates and produces continuously throughout the season.

Plant Type: Warm season annual, frost tender.

Plant Height: Up to 2 meters

Sow When:

  • Temperate: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date, transplant outside after frost danger has passed, typically from September to November
  • Subtropical/Tropical: Sow seeds from March to August, avoiding extreme heat

Germination: 7 – 14 days

Depth: Plant seeds 6 mm deep

Position: Full sun

Sow Where: Start seeds in seedling pots or trays; transplant once strong enough to handle

Soil Type: Fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost; pH 5.8 – 7

Rows: Space rows approximately 60 – 70 cm apart

Spacing: Plant seedlings 45 – 60 cm apart

Details: As an indeterminate variety, ‘Sweetie’ benefits from staking or trellising to support vigorous growth and maximise yield. Remove lower leaves and plant deeply when transplanting to encourage strong root development. Maintain regular watering and feeding for best results. Fruit develops in large trusses and ripens progressively over a long harvest period.

Harvest: Harvest approximately 65 – 75 days after transplanting. Pick regularly to encourage continuous fruit production.
