Amaranth Red Garnet Organic Microgreen Seeds
This microgreen has gorgeous magenta leaves to add a vibrant dash of colour to a salad or for use as a garnish.The flavour is sweet and tangy, similar to spinach.
How to Grow Amaranth Microgreens
Container: Seedling tray (29 x 34cm) or microgreen tray (29 x 14cm)
Soak time: Do not soak seed.
Sow when: Best above 22 °C; avoid cold weather.
Quantity: 2.5g (1 scant tsp) to a seedling tray; 1.25g (½ tsp) to a microgreen tray.
Method: Spread organic potting mix 2 cm deep in a tray, moisten well; spread the seed evenly across the top of the mix; gently pat seeds down; cover with damp paper towel to keep the seeds moist just until roots reach the soil; place the tray indoors on a well-lit bench or outdoors on a covered deck.
Details: Keep moist using a sprayer; add diluted organic nutrients e.g. kelp or compost tea to the sprayer.
Days to Harvest: 16 – 25 days; harvest once the 2nd set of leaves appear; cut just above the soil mix with scissors.
