Legume Seed Inoculant – Group E
Inoculant Group E is a specialist rhizobium inoculant formulated specifically for field peas, vetches, and related cool-season legumes, including Field Pea, Common Vetch, Bitter Vetch, Purple Vetch, Woolly Pod Vetch, Lentil, and related species. It promotes effective root nodulation and biological nitrogen fixation, improving plant vigour while reducing the need for synthetic nitrogen fertilisers.
This inoculant is also acid tolerant, meaning the rhizobium bacteria are better suited to establishing and surviving in soils with lower pH levels. This is especially important in acidic soils where standard rhizobia may struggle to survive, helping ensure reliable nodulation and stronger early plant development.
When applied correctly to seed before planting, the beneficial bacteria (Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae, acid-tolerant strain) colonise the developing roots and form nodules that convert atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-available form. This supports strong early growth, healthier plants, and improved soil fertility for future crops.
How to Use
Lightly moisten seed with clean water or a mild sticking solution. Add the inoculant and mix until all seeds are evenly coated. Sow treated seed as soon as possible after application. Keep inoculated seed out of direct sunlight and excessive heat, as the living bacteria are sensitive to drying and UV exposure.
For best results, use Inoculant Group E in soils where these legumes have not been grown recently, and avoid mixing inoculated seed with fertilisers or chemical seed treatments.
Application Rates
- 5 g treats up to 2.5 kg of seed
- 25 g treats up to 12.5 kg of seed
- 50 g treats up to 25 kg of seed
Store refrigerated where possible and use before the expiry date for maximum effectiveness.
