Heirloom Tomato San Marzano Seeds

‘San Marzano’ is a vigorous, reliable variety with clusters of deep red, pear-shaped fruit. It is very tasty eaten fresh and ideal for bottling, cooking, pastes and drying, as it has few seeds. It is a bushy type but may benefit from staking. Tomato San Marzano is similar to Roma tomato in terms of flavour, shape & fruit size.

Growing Instructions

Plant type:  Warm season annual, frost tender
Plant height:  1.5m
Sow when: Germinate best at 18 – 28 ºC soil temp.
Temperate: Early spring – outside after frost danger has passed
Subtropical: March – October in frost free areas
Tropical: Late April – July
Germination: 7-14 days
Depth: 6mm deep
Position: Full sun; bushy, may require staking
Sow where: Into seedling pots; liquid feed once germinated
Soil type: fertile, well-drained, pH 5.8 – 7
Rows: 90cm apart
Spacing: 45 – 60 cm between plants
Details: To transplant: remove seed leaves, plant deeper, up to the 1st set of true leaves; this increases rooting and spreads maturity; keep well fertilized and evenly watered; protect fruit from fruit fly with PestGuard Bags
