Growing Instructions
- Onions grow best in well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Prepare beds by incorporating compost and loosening the soil.
- Sow seeds thinly, either directly into the garden or in trays for later transplanting.
- For transplants, sow seeds in trays 8 – 10 weeks before planting out. Harden off seedlings for 1 week before transplanting.
- Weed regularly to ensure young onion plants are not outcompeted.
- As bulbs begin to swell, reduce watering to help the onions dry out and form a good skin for storage.
